A weekend in the Adirondacks

The kids' first time on a frozen lake - Friends Lake- it was beautiful!
they loved the cabin and got to sleep in their own little loft
Our friend Tim's cabin- it was so cozy (once we got the fire going!)
and fun to just cuddle with my kiddos
James thought it was pretty funny to be wearing tights under his snow pants.
One night we put Zanna's stretch pants under his jeans and when we got home he said, "can I take these girl pants off now?"
 being dogs on the lake
First Time Skiers- I loved their little skies and was so excited for them to try something new
Dave was a great teacher on the slopes and it was just a really cool day since teaching his kids to ski is something he's always looked forward to doing

We got to ride the Lift to the top of the mountain and back down-
it was Valentine's Day!
Gabe, Dave and Tim eating those nasty mallow burgers just for kicks
Nothing like sledding down pure ice!
the fam after sledding
Main Street Soda Fountain in Chestertown, NY
(we didn't order any soda, so when we left Zanna said, "when are we going to the SODA fountain?!)
we still love Hershey's!
the frozen Hudson- this picture doesn't even come close to showing how beautiful it was

I wish I had a better video of James- they both did great and had a lot of fun!

MAADK

I'm starting a new group called MAADK- Mothers Against All Day Kindergarten! Some may call me crazy, but I feel like kindergartners should only be in school half-day, or at least have the option for it, and that they do not need to be gone from 7:30am-3:30pm everyday when they are only 5 years old. I know the world is changing and so many parents are working, and therefore need their kids to be in school, and/or everyone goes to preschool now- so Preschool is the new Kindergarten and therefore Kindergarten is more advanced- or at least just longer, but I just disagree. The time I have with my kids is not always easy and delightful, but it is already flying by and I think they have a lot to learn at home before the are ready for the "real world." Zanna goes to pre-K everyday from 8:45-1:20 (counting time on the bus) and that gets exhausting for her sometimes. Luckily we have a lot of holidays and breaks, so she gets some "time off"- as she calls it- and she loves the days she gets to be home. I have talked to many moms now who are concerned about sending their Kindergartners to school all day and one friend who thinks all day kindergarten has ruined her daughter's attitude towards school and has a constant battle to get her out the door in the morning. They are too young to be sent out all day and I am REALLY hoping our school districts doesn't change over to all-day k. (right now they do 3 regular day and 2 short days for kindergarten). I hope I don't sound like I don't want my kids to go to school- I just don't think we should be so anxious to get them out of the house, because that will happen too quickly on its own.

(P.S.- My group isn't really real, so anyone who wants to join and vent or discuss is welcome :)

West Palm Beach in January- what could be better?

Yes, I have definitely been spoiled this year with trips to warm beautiful places (cruise to Mexico, Dominican Republic, and now West Palm Beach, FL) and I am getting addicted!
The Alsop family graciously invited us to meet them at their beach condo for a few days and we pretty much hung out at the pool and beach for 4 days straight. The kids were little fish and Zanna learned to jump off the side and swim and everyone learned to do the "dead man's float." We also enjoyed smoothies at the Ritz pool, collecting sea glass, eating at The Cheesecake Factory, dancing to the band at the outdoor mall, getting to know little Lexi again (we bonded this trip") staying up late chatting and seeing the kids happily reunited again! Skylar was so nice to entertain the kids and give Cheryl and I time to talk and relax. I could not get over how beautiful the beach and palm trees were and the fact that they were across the street made is even better! THANK YOU for being great friends and hostesses and I just wish Dave could have been there with us. Zanna collected lots of shells and rocks for him, and that almost made up for it :) We love you Alsop family and hope we can do it again sometime!

dark again

So, I used to have dark brown hair, then after 5 years of debating I finally got highlights for the first time and thought they were a very fun change. Then the whole "roots" thing started happening and I had to do something-- so I went back to dark and it is REALLY dark, but I think it's fun and should help me get back to my normal color. So, thanks to Aubrie (and Jess for hooking me up) for my awesome hair experience at Bumble and  I am happy to say that Dave really likes it too - yeah!
(photos taken with photo booth on mac-so don't mind their silliness :)
