gardening and such...

We officially own land!
(well...technically it's the hospital's, but we dug it so it's is ours for now)

We finally started a garden- something we wanted to do last year but never got to it,  and the kids were very excited to go dig in the dirt with dad. He bought them their own little shovel and Zanna worked by his side for about 2 hours straight.  James didn't quite stay-the-course but loved his frog boots and shows everyone his new shovel.
We are going to plant tomatoes, squash, cucumber, peppers, carrots, herbs and some other things--can't remember right now--but it is going to be good. Our neighbor brought us a lot of fresh veggies from her little plot last year and they were so yummy so hopefully we'll have the same success.

Zanna is getting a head start with the gardening thing and planted some sunflower seeds at school.  It was very dry 2 days ago and I thought it was going to die, but I add some water and the next day we had these two beautiful sunflower plants- we did a little sunflower dance to show our excitement :)

my mamma...

I love this lady.

My mamma was the best care-taker while she was here. She was a cook, housekeeper, chauffeur, nanny, piano, teacher, friend, and nurse and I just can't thank her enough for all her help.  We had to treat her to a pedicure before she left to give HER feet a little pampering for all the work she did. We love you mom and can't wait to see you again in June- thank you!!!

Dave is good at jiggling...

Today Dave was juggling clementine oranges to entertain us all (since all I do is sit on the couch all day and do things on this dang computer) and this is the conversation that followed:

Zanna: "Wow, mom, you picked a good daddy!"

Me: "Yeah, I know."

Zanna: "When was the first time you saw him jiggle?"

(Dave and I bust up laughing)

Dave: "Not until we had been married for a few years..."

I got my foot re-wrapped and Zanna decorated it with pictures of our family- i love it.
(if you look close you can see my green toes :)

Mindy Bryce & Dale take on New York...

What can I say- we had another fabulous week in NY with my sister Mindy, her hubby Bryce and Mr. Dale! The video is kind of long, but we packed so much into the week and I wanted to remember it all. Our days were filled with:
- Central Park many times
- FAO Schwarz and the BIG piano
- walking the Brooklyn Bridge with pizza and ice cream to follow
- going hiking at Bear Mountain
- Stew Leaonard's- the coolest grocery store around
- more ice cream
- red box movies
- a fun, freezing sunset excursion to the beach
- the American Museum of Natural History
- lots of train and subway rides
- NY Pizza
- staying up way too late every night
- celebrating Easter
- they even saw Shrek on Broadway

Thanks for coming out guys- let's do it again soon with little baby Mildon- love you!

HAppY EaSteR!

The Easter Get-up!

We had Mindy, Bryce, Dale and my momma here for Easter and it was a party of chocolate, colored eggs, plastic eggs and colored headbands!

It was a beautiful day and fun to have all my family at church together in our Little Neck Ward.  We spent the afternoon cooking, napping, eating and just being together. We ate some delicious strawberry shortcake for dessert and my cousin Jess was able to sleep over that night too so we had a full-fun house. I love my family and am so blessed to have such a loving, crazy, happy family!

my funny foot

I think my doctor or nurse has a sense of humor 'cause this is how my foot came out of surgery! So, at least I have something funny to look at while I'm sitting here all day. Things went well and my mom is taking FABULOUS care of all of us and we love having her here- Thanks mom!

my last year in my twenties!

This is why I LOVE birthdays!!!
My awesome friends- Rachel, Lourdes, Julie, Afton and Raegan had a delicious lunch for my birthday and we ended on this chocolate cake note- my favorite thing! Thanks ladies, you are the best!

The morning of my birthday we took the kids to Alley Pond Park to try out our new rollerblades. Dave and I both got new "blades" (since we've had ours since middle school) and it was fun to all be together on wheels. It was a little cold that morning so we bundled up and had a great time.

Dave and the kids made me a "rice-crispy cake" with sprinkles and it was full of marshmallows! We watched Conference and had a really relaxing day. Dave went to Priesthood that night and I watched a movie with friends and ate more cake- it was a great low-key birthday and I am happy to be the big 29!

(funny sliding video)
(happy birthday to me)
